This municipality in Aljezur, Portugal is a lush, verdant green valley with rivers, crops and the remnants of a Moorish castle. It’s an old town and new town in one, that resulted from some flight during an 18th Century malaria epidemic. Some stayed and some left, but there is still evidence that the village is cleaved in half. Cobbled hills, a town square, tolling bell, narrow passageways and an old town square provide a glimpse into the past.
